Welcome to the Alabama Association of Public Personnel Administrators, the Alabama Chapter

First I want to thank the members of Alabama Association of Public Personnel Administrators (AAPPA), the Alabama Chapter of IPMA-HR for allowing me to serve as your President and be a part of an organization that not only gives knowledge back but allows friendships to be created. I am following in the footsteps of some great leaders and my hopes are to continue to strengthen AAPPA with new members, new programs and the ability to gain the knowledge necessary for professional growth and development. This organization was formed back in the 1980's and the individuals who formed this chapter were motivated and persistent in pursuing a goal of success for this association.

This next two years becomes a challenge for the executive board and education committee as we start developing strategic goals for our chapter to meet the needs of our membership. AAPPA, in partnership with Auburn University, Government & Economic Development Institute offers certification programs in Human Resources, Payroll and Risk Management. These programs are designed to provide the knowledge for each individual to perform their daily roles in a professional, effective and efficient manner. Along with the certification classes, AAPPA offers a yearly conference that fosters professional development. The executive board and education committee is excited about the opportunity to give something back to our membership.

The Margaret Casey Scholarship program is another benefit to AAPPA Chapter members. This scholarship was named for one of the pioneers of this association and AAPPA is delighted to honor her with the scholarship program. Members who have completed 24 hours within the AAPPA program are eligible to apply for this award. The candidates are reviewed by a committee and the award is presented during our Annual Conference.

For our current members and perspective members I want to assure you that the intention of this executive board is to grow the Alabama Association of Public Personnel Administrators without limits and to provide outstanding training opportunities. We will stay focused on remaining as a benefit to our members. I look forward to a productive successful two years and invite each of you to participate, and most important become involved.
